Unreleased Grateful Dead film “Sunshine Daydream” gets theatrical release
Written by admin on June 6, 2013 – 5:59 pm -The previously unreleased Grateful Dead concert film “Sunshine Daydream” will be screened in select US theaters on August 1 as part of the third annual Grateful Dead Meet Up At The Movies series.
The Sunshine Daydream concert was performed at the site of the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, Oregon on August 27, 1972. The film will include performances from the concert, and recent interviews with Ken Babbs, Sam Cutler, Wavy Gravy and Carolyn “Mountain Girl” Garcia.
“Sunshine Daydream” was shot in 16mm and has been restored to HD resolution for its theatrical release. There are also all new stereo and 5.1 audio mixes done by Jeffrey Norman at TRI Studios in San Rafael, California, and mastered by Grammy® winning engineer David Glasser at Air Show Mastering in Boulder, Colorado.
Among the tracks performed by the band are “Bird Song,” “Dark Star,” “Greatest Story Ever Told,” “Playing in the Band” and “China Cat Sunflower”. Here’s a preview of the latter.
