U2 head list of Top 25 tours of 2011
Written by admin on December 22, 2011 – 12:11 pm -The list of top 25 most lucrative music tours of 2011 features a diverse group of artists, old and new, with multiple genres represented, including hard rock, country, rap and pop. Top of the pile is U2 with their 360° tour, which was the highest-grossing tour of all time.
In 2011 alone, 2.8 million people saw the tour on its American and African legs, with ticket sales totalling $293 million. |
Stadium rockers Bon Jovi took the second spot with their 68-date Bon Jovi Live tour which played to 1.8 million people and earned $192 million.
The top five is rounded out by the reunited Take That, whose 29-date UK stadium tour earned an impressive $185 million; Roger Waters’ 92-date tour of The Wall, which earned $150 million; and Taylor Swift’s 89-date Speak Now tour of Europe, Asia and North America which earned $97 million.
