Tom Hiddleston to play Hank Williams in “I Saw the Light”
Written by admin on June 14, 2014 – 4:36 pm -English actor Tom Hiddleston has been cast as country music legend Hank Williams in the forthcoming biopic “I Saw the Light”. The movie will be directed by Marc Abraham, who also wrote the screenplay based on a biography by Colin Escott.
Hiddleston’s most high profile role to date has been Loki, which he played in Marvel’s “Thor,” “The Avengers,” and “Thor: The Dark World.” Hollywood Reporter notes that he will do his own singing in the movie and that rights have been secured to the Williams music catalogue, including hits such as “Hey Good Lookin’,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” and “Your Cheatin’ Heart”.
Aaron L. Gilbert, Brett Ratner and G. Marq Roswell will produce “I Saw the Light,” which will begin filming in Louisiana in October.
Hank Williams has been the subject of a biopic before, with George Hamilton taking the lead role in the 1964 movie “Your Cheatin’ Heart”.
