The Diamond Jubilee Concert – Line-up
Written by admin on June 4, 2012 – 9:03 am -The UK’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations continue today with a star-studded concert on a stage built around the Queen Victoria Memorial, in front of Buckingham Palace.
HM the Queen and the Royal Family will witness performances from a broad range of artists, spanning six decades of popular music, from Cliff Richard to Jessie J. |
The concert is scheduled to run from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm. The following artists/song titles are expected:
- Madness – “Our House”
- Robbie Williams – “Mack the Knife” and “Let Me Entertain You”
- Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole – Need You Now
- Ed Sheeran – “A Team”
- Alfie Boe and Renee Fleming – “Somewhere”
- Gareth Malone and Military Wives – “National anthem”
- Shirley Bassey – “Diamonds Are Forever”
- Tom Jones – “Delilah” and “Mama Told Me Not To Come”
- Cliff Richard – medley
- Grace Jones – “Slave To The Rhythm”
- Jessie J – “Domino”
- Annie Lennox – “There Must Be An Angel”
- JLS – “Everybody In Love” and “She Makes Me Wanna”
- Alfie Boe – “O Sole Mio”
- Jools Holland and Ruby Turner – “You Are So Beautiful”
- Renee Fleming – “Un Bel Di Vedremo”
- Lang Lang – “Hungarian Rhapsody”
- Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth band featuring The Military Wives – “Sing”

- Paul McCartney – “Live And Let Die” and two Beatles songs.
Madness will perform their song from the roof of Buckingham Palace, emulating Brian May’s opening performance from the Golden Jubilee Concert in 2002.
Hosting duties will be taken on by Rob Brydon, Miranda Hart, Lenny Henry and Lee Mack.
The concert will conclude with the Queen lighting the National Beacon, which is part of a network of over 4,000 Beacons that will be lit by communities and others throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, along with the Commonwealth and UK Overseas Territories.
The Diamond Jubilee Concert will be broadcast live on BBC One and Radio 2.
The official song of the Diamond Jubilee, “Sing,” was composed by Gary Barlow and features musicians from across the Commonwealth, including the Military Wives, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Band, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Slum Drummers from Kenya’s Kibera slum, African Children’s Choir and many more.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations conclude tomorrow with a busy day for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, including a national service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, a reception at Mansion House, a Diamond Jubilee lunch at Westminster Hall organised by the Livery, a formal carriage procession from Westminster to Buckingham Palace which will be watched by thousands of wellwishers, and an RAF flypast that will be watched by the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne on February 6, 1952 and her coronation took place on June 2, 1953. She is the second longest reigning monarch in British history after Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901.
