The Complete Elvis Presley Masters – available for pre-order
Written by admin on August 3, 2010 – 9:26 pm -If you are a fan of Elvis Presley and have deep pockets, you can pre-order “The Complete Elvis Presley Masters” now, in advance of its October 19 release date. The limited edition release is restricted to 1,000 sets.
The publicity promises that the 30-CD set includes all 711 of Elvis’ master recordings in chronological order, plus 103 rarities. The addition of the rarities separates this release from the recent Franklin Mint complete Elvis set. As well as the 30 CDs, the set will contain a 240-page hardbound book, with annotated discography and artwork for every original Elvis release, a 6,000 word essay by renowned Elvis author Peter Guralnick, and many rare and classic photographs.
“The Complete Elvis Presley Masters” is the most ambitious release in RCA/Legacy’s Elvis 75 campaign, which commemorates the 75th anniversary of Elvis’ birth.
So is the set going to be worth the large price tag? It does look impressive and it appears the best sounding studio masters will be included. The book also looks a real treat. I think the price is a little beyond what most fans would consider paying, but it is a limited edition and no doubt 1,000 buyers will take the plunge.
There was some speculation of missing content on the set, namely that “Let’s Forget About the Stars” will not be included. I’m glad to say that this was just a communication error and it’s now been confirmed that the set will be complete.
You can pre-order “The Complete Elvis Presley Masters” exclusively at completeelvis.com.
