OBEs for Nash and Cale

Two veteran musicians appeared in the Queen’s annual birthday honours list.

OBEs (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) went to co-founder of the Velvet Underground, John Cale, and to Graham Nash, who was a member of both the Hollies and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

John Cale gets OBE Cale co-founded the Velvet Underground with Lou Reed in 1965 and appeared on their first two albums, “Velvet Underground and Nico” and “White Light/White Heat.”

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2010

The 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony took place last night at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York City.

Inductees in the performer category were:

ABBA – inducted by The Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb

Abba’s Frida Lyngstad and Benny Andersson accepted the award. Bandmates Bjorn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Faltskog couldn’t make the ceremony.
