Eagle Rock Entertainment are releasing DVD and Blu-ray editions of “The Doors – Live At The Bowl ’68”. The footage has been restored from the original camera negatives and remixed and remastered using the original multi-track tapes.

The Doors’ “L.A. Woman – 40th Anniversary” edition out now

The highly anticipated Doors’ “L.A. Woman – 40th Anniversary” edition was released today. The title features the original album and a second disc containing alternate takes and the unreleased song “She Smells So Nice.”

Listen to the unreleased Doors song – “She Smells So Nice”

The forthcoming “L.A. Woman – 40th Anniversary” edition includes the unreleased Doors track “She Smells So Nice.” The track was discovered by producer Bruce Botnick while reviewing the session tapes for the reissue. You can preview the track below:

Song of the Week #64 – “Light My Fire”

The Doors’ rock classic “Light My Fire” is Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.

“Light My Fire” was released on the Doors’ self-titled debut album in January 1967 and then three months later on single, backed with “The Crystal Ship.”

Jim Morrison – 40th anniversary

Jim Morrison died forty years ago today in Paris, France aged just 27. Morrison had moved to Paris four months before with his girlfriend, Pamela Courson, after finishing work on the album “L.A. Woman.”

News of Morrison’s death was not made public until after he was buried several days later in Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Thousands are expected to gather at the cemetery today to pay tribute to Morrison.
