Bond composer John Barry dead at 77
Written by admin on January 31, 2011 – 11:59 am -Oscar-winning film composer, John Barry, died last night of a heart attack in Glen Cove, New York. He was 77.
Barry was born in York, England on November 3, 1933. He first found musical success with his band the John Barry Seven in the 1950s, before turning his hand to composing for film and television in 1959. Among his huge number of credits over half a century were 12 James Bond soundtracks, including “Goldfinger”, “Thunderball”, “You Only Live Twice” and “Octopussy.” He won five Oscars for his work on the movies “Born Free” (Best Original Song and Best Original Score), “The Lion in Winter” (Best Original Score), “Out of Africa” (Best Original Score) and “Dances with Wolves” (Best Original Score). |

Springsteen and Lady Gaga share the stage
Written by admin on May 14, 2010 – 8:16 pm -Bruce Springsteen and Dame Shirley Bassey shared a microphone, while singing along with Lady Gaga, Elton John, Debbie Harry and Sting to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” Doesn’t that sound like an unlikely scenario? Well that’s just what happened at Carnegie Hall last night for the finale of Sting and Trudie Styler’s annual Rainforest Foundation benefit.
