A DVD compilation featuring some of the most iconic British live music acts will be released next week to kick-off the Music is GREAT Week. Profits will go to Save the Children.

Queen are continuing their 40th anniversary celebrations with the release of the Queen Orb USB Gift Box, and the Queen Live At Wembley Super Deluxe Gift Box Set. Both are limited to 5,000 units worldwide and are available from November 21.

The Queen Orb USB Gift Box is a luxurious black velvet lined gift box which includes a USB drive containing all of Queen’s 15 remastered studio albums, as well as a gold-plated Queen crest pendant necklace in a red velvet collector’s bag. The albums are presented in 48kHz 24bit WAV (better than CD quality!) and MP3 (320kbps) formats, and can be played on both PC and Mac.

Jeff Beck, Queen and Roger Waters were among the veteran artists honoured at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards last night. The event took place at the Roundhouse in Camden, London, and was hosted by KISS bassist, Gene Simmons.

Queen received the “Best Reissue” award for the remastered reissues of their final five albums: “The Works,” “A Kind of Magic,” “The Miracle,” “Innuendo” and “Made in Heaven.”

The rock band Queen will be be honoured with the Global Icon Award at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) next month. The band will accept the award in person and also take to the stage for a special performance.

The Asian Awards will pay tribute to Freddie Mercury next month with a Founders Award that recognises his outstanding contribution to music and global impact.

The Awards honour “the very highest levels of achievement from within the Worldwide Asian community” in the fields of business, sport, entertainment, philanthropy and popular arts and culture. Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar and educated in Bombay.
