The Motown Sound: In Performance at the White House

“The Motown Sound: In Performance at the White House” will be hosted by Jamie Foxx. Artists scheduled to perform include Smokey Robinson, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Seal, Nick Jonas, Amber Riley, Natasha Bedingfield, Gloriana, Ledisi, Mark Salling and Jordin Sparks.

Paul McCartney receives Gershwin Prize from President Obama

The President paid tribute to McCartney’s long career:

Paul McCartney to perform at the White House
Written by admin on May 22, 2010 – 7:59 pm -Sir Paul McCartney will perform a concert at the White House in July, after President Obama has presented him with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
McCartney is the third recipient of the Gershwin award, after Paul Simon in 2007 and Stevie Wonder in 2009, both of whom are expected to take part in the McCartney concert, along with Elvis Costello and Dave Grohl. |

Dylan and Baez sing at the White House
Written by admin on February 12, 2010 – 8:42 pm -President Obama and the First Lady hosted a “Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement” at the White House on Tuesday night. The concert was the fifth in a series that is dedicated to what President Obama calls “Music that tells the story of America.”
The first performance was by Yolanda Adams who sang the Sam Cooke classic “A Change is Gonna Come.” This was followed by performances from Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Smokey Robinson, John Mellencamp, Natalie Cole, John Legend, Seal, The Blind Boys of Alabama, the Howard University Choir, The Freedom Singers, and Dr Bernice Johnson Reagon. Everyone, including President Obama, finished off the concert with a sing-along of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

White House to honour Stevie Wonder
Written by admin on February 17, 2009 – 7:50 am -The White House will hold a concert in honour of Motown legend, Stevie Wonder, on February 25. Wonder will also be presented with a Library of Congress award. |
The concert will be broadcast the following day on the PBS network as part of the Performance At The White House series.
