“The House of the Rising Sun” was released on single in the UK in June 1964, backed with “Talkin’ ’bout You,” and debuted two months later in the US. It was also on the band’s self-titled American debut album, but not on the UK version. |

UK votes on best ever political songs
Written by admin on April 21, 2010 – 6:43 am -The UK’s New Statesmen magazine has published a list of the top 20 political songs, as voted for by their readers and members of the Political Studies Association.
Not surprisingly, the list contains some of the most famous protest songs of all time, including John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Bob Dylan’s “The Times They are a-Changin'” and Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land,” which takes the top spot. |
