Neil Diamond is 70 today
Written by admin on January 24, 2011 – 8:04 pm -Happy Birthday to Neil Diamond who is 70-years-old today. The legendary singer-songwriter was born Neil Leslie Diamond on January 24, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York.
Diamond began writing songs while studying medicine at New York University and it was as a Brill Building songwriter that he achieved his first success, penning such classics as “I’m a Believer” for the Monkees (although he had already recorded it himself). Diamond’s breakthrough hit was “Solitary Man” in 1966 and he would go on to have 16 Top Ten albums and 37 Top Ten singles. |

Song of the Week #38 – “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”
Written by admin on January 24, 2011 – 7:13 am -The Hollies classic hit “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” is this week’s Song of the Week on Classic Pop Icons.
“He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” was released in September 1969 in the UK and December 1969 in the US, backed with “Cos You Like to Love Me.” The Hollies also featured the song as the title track on the US album “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.” The album was released in the UK as “Hollies Sings Hollies”, with a couple of changes to the tracklist. |

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2011 inductees
Written by admin on December 14, 2010 – 10:38 pm -According to the L.A. Times, Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, Dr John, Darlene Love and the Alice Cooper Band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next spring. The official announcement will come at 10 am tomorrow morning (December 15.)
