Happy 70th Birthday Aretha Franklin
Written by admin on March 25, 2012 – 2:59 pm -Aretha Franklin celebrates her 70th birthday today, having already marked the event last night with a party at the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel in New York. The event included a sit-down dinner and mini-concert featuring jazz pianist Kris Bowers.
Franklin spent much of the night sat next to producer Clive Davis, who was instrumental in relaunching her career in the 1980s. She also noted that she would be working with Davis again:

Dionne began singing in church as a child. Her first professional performances were with the Drinkard Singers gospel group, whose members included her mother, aunts and uncles. |
