Warhol’s “Double Elvis” expected to sell for $50 million
Written by admin on March 21, 2012 – 6:03 pm -Andy Warhol’s iconic “Double Elvis (Ferus Type)” portrait is expected to fetch up to $50 million when it is auctioned by Sotheby’s in May.
“Double Elvis” features Elvis in a pose from his 1960 movie “Flaming Star”. The work was one of 22 pieces in Andy Warhol’s Elvis series, of which nine are in museum collections. |

$100m for Warhol’s Elvis print
Written by admin on December 1, 2009 – 2:57 am -The Economist has reported that Andy Warhol’s ‘Eight Elvises’ screen print has sold for a staggering $100 million.
The enormous fee was paid last year in a private transaction and is a figure only matched previously for work by Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt and Willem De Kooning. Read more »
