Gerry Goffin: 1939-2014
Written by admin on June 19, 2014 – 10:22 pm -Legendary lyricist, Gerry Goffin, died Thursday morning (June 19) in Los Angeles at the age of 75. With his then wife, Carole King, Goffin penned some of the finest pop songs of the 1960s, including the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, Little Eva’s “Loco-Motion” and Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”.

“Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” is Broadway-bound
Written by admin on October 8, 2013 – 11:24 pm -“Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” has made its worldwide debut at San Francisco’s Curran Theater, where it will play until October 20.
The musical will begin its Broadway previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theater on November 21, ahead of its official opening on January 12.

Carole King receives Gershwin Prize for Popular Song
Written by admin on May 23, 2013 – 7:17 pm -Carole King has become the first female recipient of the prestigious Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The award was presented by President Obama during a special gala in the East Room of the White House on Wednesday night.
The all-star gala included performances by Billy Joel, Gloria Estefan, Emeli Sande, James Taylor, Jesse McCartney and Trisha Yearwood.

Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration
Written by admin on May 3, 2013 – 3:47 pm -Carole King, James Taylor, Aerosmith, and Jimmy Buffett are among the acts who will appear at “Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration” which takes place on May 30 at the TD Garden in Boston. The benefit concert will raise money for One Fund Boston, set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino to help the people most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

Carole King, Willie Nelson and Annie Lennox to receive honorary doctorates

The honorees are recognised for their “achievements and influence in music, and for their enduring contributions to American and international culture”.
