Sammy Davis Jr – 20 years on
Written by admin on May 16, 2010 – 6:33 pm -Time really does fly. It has been 20 years since the multi-talented Sammy Davis Jr died from throat cancer.
Sammy was a remarkable showman who began performing at just three years of age with his father and uncle as the Will Mastin Trio. He went on to delight crowds on Broadway, in Las Vegas and on the silver screen. He was also a member of the legendary Rat Pack, alongside Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. |
There were many triumphs in Sammy Davis Jr’s long career, including his Broadway appearances in Mr Wonderful and Golden Boy, his sell out nightclub runs in Vegas and his hit record “The Candy Man” in 1972.
Here’s Sammy with a fine performance of “Mr Bojangles.”
