Rush to receive Legends of Live award
Written by admin on September 29, 2010 – 7:58 pm -Canadian rockers Rush are to be awarded the Legend of Live award at the Billboard Touring Awards in November.
The Legend of Live award recognises a group or individual who have made a “significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business.” |
Last years Legends of Live award went to Ozzy Osbourne and previous recipients were the Allman Brothers Band, the agent Frank Barsalona, Sir Elton John, Cellar Door Concerts founder Jack Boyle and Rolling Stones promoter Michael Cohl.
Rush have sold more than two million concert tickets in the past five years and had a very successful Time Machine tour this year which played 45 shows in the US, Canada and South America.
Yesterday also saw the release of the band’s most successful albums, “2112 (released in 1976) and “Moving Pictures” (released in 1981), in the Classic Album series. The albums will be showcased by a a two-hour documentary available on DVD, Blu-ray or a Blu-ray/CD combo pack that will also include the original albums.
The 7th annual Billboard Touring Awards will be presented at the Sheraton in New York City on November 4. Jack Johnson will receive the Humanitarian Award, in recognition of his involvement in “a wide range of environmentally conscious and other philanthropic efforts.”
