Rod Stewart announces two-year Vegas residency
Written by admin on May 11, 2011 – 7:56 am -Rod Stewart will begin a two-year residency at Las Vegas’ Colosseum at Caesars Palace on August 24.
The 4,000-seat venue hosted Stewart last year for a successful eight-show run during which he performed many of his greatest hits, including “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and “Maggie May.” |
Stewart spoke to Billboard.biz about the upcoming show, which will be titled “Rod Stewart: The Hits”:
“It’s a rock’n’roll show. We’ll try to give the people what they want, which are the songs that made me famous, plus a few surprises. There won’t be any magicians or midgets, just a good rock show.” |
Stewart completed a 13-date North American tour with Stevie Nicks last month and will be embarking on a solo UK tour (plus one Polish date) at the end of this month. The short tour will culminate on Sunday, June 26 with his headline appearance at Hard Rock Calling in London’s Hyde Park. Here’s the full list of dates:
- 29 May – Newbury, Race Course
- 1 June – Swansea, Liberty Stadium
- 3 June – Leeds, Football Club
- 5 June – Aberdeen, Football Club
- 8 June – Norwich, Football Club
- 11 June – Torun, Poland, Marian Rose Moto Arena
- 26 June – London, Hyde Park.

This is shaping up to be a busy period for the star, as he is also planning to record an album of blues songs with guitarist Jeff Beck this summer. Details are scarce on this project, but it sounds like a welcome return to his roots. The pair first worked together when Stewart joined the Jeff Beck Group in 1967.
