
Q Awards for McCartney and Ferry

Paul McCartney and Bryan Ferry were among the recipients of Q Awards at a ceremony in London last night. McCartney’s Wings album “Band on the Run” received the Classic Album award (in advance of its re-release next week) and Ferry won the Q Icon award. |
Accepting the Classic Album award from Tom Meighan, McCartney said:
“The Beatles were a pretty hard act to follow, and we followed them. To all the younger bands, which is pretty much everyone, keep rockin’. I love ya. To Wings and The Beatles, thank you for getting me here. And, this one’s for Linda!” |
The biggest winner of the night was Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, who won Best Female and Best Track for “You’ve Got the Love.”

- Classic Album – “Band On The Run” by Wings
- Classic Songwriter – Neil Finn (of Crowded House)
- Inspiration Award – Suede
- Icon – Bryan Ferry
- Idol – Madness
- Hero – The Chemical Brothers
- Hall of Fame Award – Take That.
