Preview tracks from Rod Stewart’s “Time”
Written by admin on March 20, 2013 – 9:37 pm -Rod Stewart’s eagerly anticipated new album of original rock material is out in May and you can now preview samples of the tracks via the video below.
Stewart has spent much of the last two decades recording albums of other people’s material, including a highly successful foray into the Great American Songbook. “Time” sees Stewart return to rock and to songwriting, with 11 of the 12 songs penned by the veteran rocker. This is the first time that Stewart has made a significant songwriting contribution to an album since 1991’s “Vagabond Heart”.
The songs on “Time” are autobiographical, with Stewart exploring his early years as a struggling singer, the pain of divorce, the success of his marriage to Penny Lancaster, and the ill-fated romance with an art student in 1963 which led to the birth of his first daughter Sarah. His daughter was adopted but got in touch with Stewart in 2008 and the pair now have a close relationship. The song, “Brighton Beach,” is dedicated to Sarah and her mother Sue who passed away several years ago.
