Paul McCartney records with the Hollywood Vampires
Written by admin on March 6, 2015 – 1:51 pm -Paul McCartney has recorded a song with the Hollywood Vampires, a supergroup featuring Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp. McCartney joined the group on a version of “Come and Get It,” which is a track he wrote for Badfinger in 1969.
The session took place last year in Los Angeles last year, with McCartney and Cooper sharing lead vocals. Joe Perry told Rolling Stone:
He [McCartney] knew all the chords, the lyrics, everything. He didn’t have any cheat sheets. It was like he’d been playing it his whole life. Me and Alice and Johnny were standing there and looking at each other and I tell you – if there’s any ego-lever in a room, it’s Paul.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. If Paul’s in the room, he’s there. It was hard to focus on playing.
The song will appear on an album later in the year. Aside from one festival appearance in Rio in September, no gigs have been announced for the Hollywood Vampires, but Perry says that they do plan to tour.
The Hollywood Vampires is a name borrowed from a group of male rock stars who partied together in the 1970s, including Cooper, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, Ringo Starr and others. The Rainbow Bar and Grill in LA was nicknamed “The Lair of the Hollywood Vampires”.
