The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced that the 2015 inductees will be Lou Reed, Green Day, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Bill Withers, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Ringo Starr will receive the Award For Musical Excellence and the “5” Royales will receive the Early Influence Award.

Millie Kirkham, who featured as a backing singer on many classic recordings by artists such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Jim Reeves, has died aged 91. The singer suffered a stroke last week and had been in intensive care for days before passing away on Sunday (Dec 14th) at a hospital in Nashville.

The great Sam Cooke died 50 years ago today aged 33. The reason that the soul legend was shot will probably never be known with certainty, but the magnificence of his voice and charm of his recordings are in no doubt.
