English actor Tom Hiddleston has been cast as country music legend Hank Williams in the forthcoming biopic “I Saw the Light”. The movie will be directed by Marc Abraham, who also wrote the screenplay based on a biography by Colin Escott.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2014

Ray Davies, Donovan, Mark James, Graham Gouldman and Jim Weatherly were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Thursday night.

Sadly, Ray Davies, lead singer and main songwriter for the Kinks, could not attend because of the death of his sister, but he accepted the honour in a video where he said he was proud to be inducted. Jon Bon Jovi was on hand to pay tribute to Davies, closing the show with performances of the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me” and “All Day and All of the Night.”

Unseen Grateful Dead footage featured in “Beat Club 4/21/72” film

A previously unseen Grateful Dead television performance will receive a one-night only theatrical release across North America on July 17. “Beat Club 4/21/72” features the band performing a short version of their 1972 European tour set on the German television show “Beat Club”.

Paul McCartney postpones US gigs

Paul McCartney has postponed the first seven shows of his US tour as he is still recovering from a virus that led to the postponement of shows in Japan and Korea last month.

McCartney said in a statement:

I’m sorry, but it’s going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again. I’m feeling great, but taking my docs’ advice to take it easy for just a few more days. Look forward to seeing you all soon.
