Harris replaced Eddie Kendricks in The Temptations in 1971, changing his name to Damon as there was already an Otis (Williams) in the group.
Before his stint with The Temptations, Harris had been a member of the Young Vandals, which began life as a Temptations cover band called the Young Tempts.
During his time as first tenor with The Temptations, Harris sang lead on such hits as “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” “Take a Look Around” and “Masterpiece.”

Harris left The Temptations in 1975 and joined the group Impact with whom he recorded two albums (“Impact” and “The Pac is Back”) and had a hit with the single “Give a Broken Heart a Break”.
Harris also recorded the solo album “Silk” in 1978 before retiring from the music world to enter college.
In recent years Harris set up the Damon Harris Cancer Foundation and was also an activist for the Stand Up to Cancer group.
