Original Status Quo line-up announce live return
Written by admin on November 5, 2012 – 7:28 am -The original line-up of Status Quo will reunite for a number of UK gigs next March.
Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan first played together as The Spectres in the early 1960s, changing their name to The Status Quo in 1967 and finally just Status Quo in 1969. Rossi and Parfitt have remained with the band ever since, but drummer John Coghlan and bassist Alan Lancaster left in 1981 and 1985, respectively.
Status Quo manager, Simon Porter, said:
| “People have wanted this announcement to be made for years, and here it is. This is a real moment in the chequered history of Status Quo and it comes after almost 30 years of acrimony, and 10 years of law suits and court battles. Just 2 years ago the thought of the Frantic Four performing again was unthinkable. Now, 50 years on from when Francis and Alan first performed together as schoolboys, it is fitting that everything has come full circle for these unique one-off shows.” |
The dates are described as a one-off. Andy Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards and Matt Letley remain permanent members of the group.
The reunited line-up will play the following dates:
- Sunday, 10 March – Glasgow 02 Academy
- Tuesday, 12 March – Manchester 02 Apollo
- Wednesday, 13 March – Wolverhampton Civic
- Friday, 15 March – London, Hammersmith Apollo
- Saturday, 16 March – London, Hammersmith Apollo.
Tickets will be on sale from Status Quo’s official website only on November 13, and then on general sale from November 16.
Although these will be the first live dates the four have played together for many years, they did come together for a rehearsal at Shepperton Studios last year. Clips of the session were featured on the documentary “Hello Quo,” which was released last week on DVD and Blu-ray.
