New Jimi Hendrix album and documentary to be released in November
Written by admin on September 17, 2013 – 6:16 pm -Experience Hendrix LLC & Legacy Recordings have announced the first ever release of the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s performance at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival, and an expanded DVD/Blu-ray edition of the American Masters documentary “Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Train A Comin'”.

The show featured on “The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Miami Pop Festival” was recorded on May 18, 1968 by Hendrix’s long-term sound engineer, Eddie Kramer. It features the first recorded stage performances of “Hear My Train A Comin'” and “Tax Free,” and strong renditions of classics such as “Fire,” “Hey Joe,” “I Don’t Live Today” and “Purple Haze.”
The Miami Pop Festival was the first ever major rock festival staged on the East Coast, and the first event promoted by Michael Lang, who would go on to organise Woodstock. The event took place at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida.

“Jimi Hendrix Experience – Miami Pop Festival” will be released on November 5 on CD and double 12″ vinyl.
The package includes never before published photos taken at the festival and an essay by award-winning music journalist and Grammy Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli.
“Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Train A Comin'” on DVD and Blu-ray
The expanded edition of “Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Train A Comin'” tells the definitive story of Jimi’s life and career, illustrated by interviews with Jimi himself, and his family, friends and fellow musicians, including Noel Redding, Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, and many more.
“Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Train A Comin'” is directed by the award winning director Bob Smeaton, whose previous credits include “Festival Express,” “The Beatles Anthology,” Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child,” and “Hendrix 70: Live at Woodstock”. Among the special features in the expanded edition are performances filmed at the Miama Pop Festival, the July 1970 New York Pop Festival, and the September 6, 1970 “Love & Peace Festival” at the Isle Of Fehmarn in Germany.
A shorter version of “Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Train A Comin'” will debut on PBS on Tuesday, November 5.
