New album from Keith Richards and the X-pensive Winos
Written by admin on May 14, 2011 – 6:15 am -Keith Richards has announced that he is working on a new album with the X-pensive Winos. Speaking on the Jimmy Fallon show, Richards said that sessions were “starting to blossom” with the band, which he last worked with in 1992.
The X-pensive Winos were first put together as a side project in 1987, at which time the relationship between Richards and Jagger was at its most strained. The band had an impressive line-up of musicians, including Steve Jordan on drums, Charlie Drayton on bass, Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Ivan Neville on keyboards and Bobby Keyes on saxophone. Jordan’s name has already been linked with the reunion, but it’s not clear who else would be on board.
A compilation of the X-pensive Winos’ best material titled “Vintage Vinos” was released last November and a vinyl edition is due next month in the US.
Richards was on the Jimmy Fallon show to promote the paperback release of his hugely popular and highly recommended autobiography “Life,” which was published on May 3 in the US/Canada and is due on May 26 in the UK.
