New album from Eric Clapton in September
Written by admin on August 19, 2010 – 7:01 pm -| The long wait for new material from Eric Clapton is almost over. His 19th studio album, simply titled “Clapton,” will be released on September 28.
Clapton’s first album since 2005’s “Back Home” will feature collaborations with Sheryl Crow, Steve Winwood, Wynton Marsalis, Allen Toussaint and Derek Trucks. |

“Clapton” was co-produced by the accomplished guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, who has been working with Clapton in the studio and on stage for almost a decade.
Here is the track list for “Clapton”:

- “Rocking Chair”
- “River Runs Deep”
- “Judgement Day”
- “How Deep Is The Ocean”
- “My Very Good Friend The Milkman”
- “Can’t Hold Out Much Longer”
- “That’s No Way To Get Along”
- “Everything Will Be Alright”
- “Diamonds Made From Rain”
- “When Somebody Thinks You’re Wonderful”
- “Hard Times Blues”
- “Run Back To Your Side”
- “Autumn Leaves.”
The first single from the album, “Diamonds Made From Rain,” features Sheryl Crow on backing vocals. It was premiered on BBC Radio on August 16.
Commenting on the new album, Clapton said:
| “This album wasn’t what it was intended to be at all. It’s actually better than it was meant to be because, in a way, I just let it happen. It’s an eclectic collection of songs that weren’t really on the map—and I like it so much because if it’s a surprise to the fans, that’s only because it’s a surprise to me, as well.” |
Clapton fans can also look forward to the DVD and Blu-ray release of “Eric Clapton – Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010” on November 9. The Crossroads Guitar Festival was a day-long musical celebration held on June 26 at Toyota Park in Chicago. It featured a superb line up of artists, including BB King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Steve Winwood, James Burton, the Allman Brothers Band, Robert Cray, Vince Gill, ZZ Top, Clapton himself and more.
