Michael Been of The Call dead at 60

Michael Been of American rock band The Call died on Thursday of an apparent heart attack at the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt, Belgium.
Been, aged 60, had been working as a sound engineer for his son Robert’s band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. |
The Call were formed in Santa Cruz in 1980 by Been, Scott Musick and Tom Ferrier. This wasn’t Been’s first band though. He had been a member of Chicago band Aorta, and then, between 1969 and 1971, of Lovecraft.
It was with The Call that Been achieved his biggest success. The band released 10 albums over 18 years, beginning with the self-titled debut in 1982. Here’s The Call’s full album discography:

The Call only achieved moderate chart success, but they had a loyal following and could count some very high profile names as fans, including Peter Gabriel, Jim Kerr and Bono. Bono provided background vocals for The Call’s 1990 album “Red Moon.”
