McCartney receives Kennedy Center award
Written by admin on December 7, 2010 – 10:43 am -Paul McCartney was back at the White House on Sunday night to receive the Kennedy Center award from President Obama. In June, McCartney received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and performed in front of the President and First Lady in the East Room.
The Kennedy Center Honors, which are now in their 33rd year, recognise lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts. This year’s other recipients were Merle Haggard, Oprah Winfrey, dancer-choreographer Bill T. Jones and composer-lyricist Jerry Herman.

The ceremony was followed by an Honors Gala which will be broadcast on CBS on Tuesday, December 28 at 9:00-11:00pm (ET/PT).
