Lifetime Achievement Grammys for Diana Ross, the Allman Brothers and Glen Campbell
Written by admin on December 28, 2011 – 1:25 pm -Diana Ross, Glen Campbell, the Allman Brothers, George Jones, The Memphis Horns, Gil Scott-Heron, and Antonio Carlos Jobim will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards during Grammy Week 2012.
The awards for Antonio Carlos Jobim and Gil Scott-Heron are posthumous as they died on December 8, 1994 and May 8, 2011, respectively. |
Members of the Allman Brothers are also nominated for Grammys for their solo work in the Best Blues Album category, namely Gregg Allman for “Low Country Blues,” Derek Trucks and Oteil Burbridge of the Tedeschi-Trucks Band for “Revelator,” and Warren Haynes for “Man in Motion.”
Dave Bartholomew, Steve Jobs and Rudy Van Gelder will receive the Trustees Award at the 2012 ceremony, which recognises outstanding contributions to the industry in a nonperforming capacity.
The Lifetime Achievement and Trustees Award fall under the Special Merit Awards banner. They will be presented on February 11, 2012 at an invitation-only ceremony. The main Grammy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12.
