Jools Holland’s Hootenanny line-up
Written by admin on December 31, 2012 – 6:52 pm -Jools Holland’s 20th Annual Hootenanny will see in the New Year tonight with an eclectic mix of musicians from around the world, including veteran artists Petula Clark, Bobby Womack and Betty Lavette. |
Also joining Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will be Adam Ant, Kevin Rowland, Emeli Sandé, Professor Green, Paloma Faith, Lianne La Havas, Jake Bugg, Roland Gift, The Dubliners, and Ruby Turner.
Petula Clark will perform two of her classic hits and a cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” from her upcoming album.
Bobby Womack will entertain with several numbers, including one from his recent album “The Bravest Man In The Universe”.
Soul singer Betty Lavette will treat the audience to a rendition of her 1965 hit “Let Me Down Easy” as well as a cover of The Black Keys “I’m Not The One” from her new album.
Adam Ant and his new group “The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse” will perform some classic hits, along with a song from their upcoming album. Fine Young Cannibals frontman Roland Gift will also take us back to the 1980s with one or two performances.
You can also expect old and new tracks from Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ frontman Kevin Rowland, including a selection from the 2012 album “One Day I’m Going To Soar”.
Irish folk group The Dubliners will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a couple of tracks, including “The Irish Rover”.
Emeli Sandé will remind viewers why she was the biggest seller of 2012 by performing numbers from her million-selling album “Our Version of Events,” including a duet with Professor Green on “Read All About It”.
Breakthrough artist Lianne La Havas will perform an Ella Fitzgerald number, as well as her own song “Age”.
Paloma Faith will also mix the old with the new by performing an Etta James number, along with her new single “Just Be”.
The Hives will raise the tempo with some rock numbers, including the popular “Hate To Say I Told You So”.
Jools Holland’s Hootenanny airs tonight on BBC Two and BBC HD from 11.10pm-1.40am.
