John Lennon remasters out today
Written by admin on October 5, 2010 – 6:00 am -Today sees the much-anticipated release of remastered editions of John Lennon’s solo albums, as well as a greatest hits package and two box sets.
The releases form part of the “Gimme Some Truth” campaign to mark what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday on October 9. |
The following eight solo albums have been digitally remastered:
- Plastic Ono Band (1970)
- Imagine (1971)
- Sometime In New York City (1972)
- Mind Games (1973)
- Walls and Bridges (1974)
- Rock ‘n’ Roll (1975)
- Double Fantasy (1980)
- Milk And Honey (1984).
“Double Fantasy” comes on a double CD, with the remastered version and a stripped down mix which really lives up to its name.
Commenting on the releases, Yoko said:
“In this very special year, which would have seen my husband and life partner John reach the age of 70, I hope that this remastering / reissue programme will help bring his incredible music to a whole new audience.” |
“By remastering 121 tracks spanning his solo career, I hope also that those who are already familiar with John’s work will find renewed inspiration from his incredible gifts as a songwriter, musician and vocalist and from his power as a commentator on the human condition.” |

A great hits compilation titled “Power to the People: The Hits” which features 15 tracks, along with an Experience Edition with additional content. | A four-CD set of themed discs titled “Gimme Some Truth” which features 72 of Lennon’s solo recordings presented under the themes of “Roots”, “Working Class Hero”, “Woman” and “Borrowed Time.” | A deluxe 11-CD collectors set titled “John Lennon Signature Box” which includes the eight John Lennon remastered albums, rarities and non-album singles. The set also comes with a 60-page hardbound book with rare photographs, drawings, never before seen collages and handwritten lyrics. |
