Joe Strummer biopic in the works

The film is provisionally titled “Joe Public” and has the backing of Film4. Details are scarce, but screenwriter Paul Viragh is on board. His previous credits include the Ian Dury biopic “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.” |

Joe Strummer’s life story was the subject of Julien Temple’s well received 2007 documentary “Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten.” Dramatised biopics are a different animal though. Strong casting and a believable script will be needed to make the project fan friendly.
Strummer died on December 22, 2002 from heart failure at the age of 50.
