Jim Morrison – musical tribute
Written by admin on July 3, 2010 – 8:31 pm -Jim Morrison was found dead in Paris, France on this day in 1971. The lead singer of the Doors had been living in Paris since March of that year and was discovered dead in his bathtub.
There has been much speculation over the cause of Jim Morrison’s death, but heart failure is the official line. |
Morrison was just 27-years-old when he died, which seemed to be a dangerous age for rockers in that period. Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix had both died aged 27 the previous year. Since his death, Morrison has gone on to become one of the most revered performers in rock history.
Let’s remember Jim Morrison with five of The Doors’ strongest tracks.
The Doors – “Riders on the Storm”
The Doors – “People Are Strange”
The Doors – “Love Street”
The Doors – “Touch Me”
The Doors – “Break on Through”
The critically acclaimed Doors documentary, “When You’re Strange: A Film About The Doors,” was release this week on DVD and Blu-ray. The documentary tells the story of the band’s short history and is full of both familiar and rare archival footage. The selling point is the inclusion of outtakes from Jim Morrison’s self-financed 1969 film “HWY: An American Pastoral.”
