The original photo has been rendered in blue, with Joplin’s sunglasses tinted pink. The art director/designer for the stamp was Antonio Alcala, with the psychedelic-style typeface designed by Daniel Pelavin.
The previous artists featured in the Music Icons series were Lydia Mendoza (March 8, 2013), Johnny Cash (June 5, 2013), Ray Charles (September 23, 2013) and Jimi Hendrix (March 13, 2014).
