Jagger to co-produce James Brown biopic
Written by admin on October 23, 2012 – 7:51 pm -Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer are to co-produce a James Brown biopic, with Tate Taylor in the frame to direct.
The movie has been in the works for years, with Grazer at the helm and James Brown himself involved before his death in 2006. The screenplay by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth charts Brown’s journey from poverty to worldwide fame.
Jagger told Download.com:
“It’s a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown. He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life.” |
Brown’s widow, Tommie Rae Brown, has welcomed the development:
“I am deeply honored that Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer, two of my husband James Brown’s favorite people, have entered into a partnership to bring his inspirational story to the big screen.” |
His daughter, Deanna Brown Thomas, added:
“My father’s music has been a beacon to people all over the world and now his life story will impact future generations and show why he is respected as The Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown!” |

Not sure about this. What credentials does Tate Taylor have and I havn’t been happy with Mick Jagger since I don’t know when.
Interested to see although very skeptical.
On another note Ray was done pretty well, so I guess we’ll see.
