Jagger and Scorsese to collaborate on “The History of Music”
Written by admin on July 25, 2010 – 4:39 pm -Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese are to collaborate on a television series for HBO called “The History of Music” which will follow friends over decades to show the evolution of the music industry. The show, which has been in development for three years, was Jagger’s idea and it is expected that he will be an executive producer, with Scorsese directing.
The pair previously worked together on the 2008 documentary about the Rolling Stones, “Shine A Light.” |
The script for “The History of Music” is being written by Sopranos writer-producer Terence Winter, who has already worked with Scorsese on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
This is just one of several music-related projects that Scorsese has been involved with. One of his early jobs was as montage supervisor for the 1950s segment of the 1972 Elvis movie “Elvis On Tour.” Later in the decade, Scorsese directed “The Last Waltz,” which captured Canadian group the Band’s final performance on Thanksgiving Day 1976. In the 1980s, he directed the Michael Jackson video “Bad” and more recently directed an episode of the acclaimed series titled “The Blues” and the award winning documentary “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.” He also has a documentary on George Harrison in development called “Living in the Material World: George Harrison” and a biopic on Frank Sinatra, simply titled “Sinatra.”
