Humanitarian award for Neil Young
Written by admin on January 28, 2011 – 7:10 pm -| Neil Young will receive the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award at this year’s Juno Awards. Young is being recognised for his work in co-founding the Farm Aid concert series and the Bridge School for children with severe speech and physical impairments.

Young has received five Juno Awards in the past, including Album of the Year for “Harvest Moon” in 1995 and, most recently, Adult Alternative Album of the Year for “Living With War” in 2007. He was inducted to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1982.

The 40th Juno Awards will be broadcast live on CTV from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on March 27. Shania Twain is this year’s inductee to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Nominations for the other categories will be announced next Tuesday (February 1). |
Past recipients of the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award include Bryan Adams (2010) and Sarah McLachlan (2009).
Young has also received a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance category for the track “Angry World.” “Angry World” is on Young’s latest album, “Le Noise,” which was released last September. The “Le Noise” film, which features footage of Young performing the eight album tracks in the studio, goes on general release on DVD and Blu-ray next week. These were previously Amazon exclusives.
