Inevitably, Elton John gets most credit for the songs, as he is the performer and writes the melodies, but Taupin has been of enormous importance to Elton John’s 40 year success. Here’s some of their best collaborations.

Although best known for his collaborations with Elton John, Taupin has had other successes, including writing the lyrics for “We Built This City”, which was recorded by Starship, and co-writing the album “From the Inside” with Alice Cooper. He also picked up a Golden Globe in 2006 for collaborating with Gustavo Santaolalla on the song “A Love That Will Never Grow Old” for the soundtrack of the film Brokeback Mountain.
Elton John and Bernie Taupin are currently working on their next studio album, which is scheduled for release sometime this year.
