Happy 70th Birthday Joan Baez

Joan was born in Staten Island, New York on January 9, 1941 and began her music career as a teenager performing in the coffee houses in the Boston-Cambridge area of Massachusetts. |

After excellent reviews for her appearance at the 1959 Newport Folk Festival, her recording career began in 1960 with the album “Joan Baez.” This album was recently included on the list of 2011 inductees to the Grammy Hall of Fame. The Grammy Hall of Fame honours recordings of “lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old.”
More than 30 albums followed “Joan Baez”, the latest of which is “Day After Tomorrow” (2008).
Joan remains an active touring artist and will embark on a tour of Europe in the spring, starting in Strasbourg, France on 25 March.
