Glen Campbell diagnosed with Alzheimer’s
Written by admin on June 22, 2011 – 7:09 pm -Glen Campbell has revealed to People magazine that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The star has suffered short-term memory loss for years and was given the Alzheimer’s diagnosis six months ago.
Campbell told People:
“I still love making music. And I still love performing for my fans. I’d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin.” |
Campbell will retire later this year, but not before a series of live dates and the release of his farewell album, “Ghost on the Canvas,” in August.
The final album includes collaborations with the likes of Chris Isaak, Billy Corgan, Dick Dale and the Dandy Warhols. |

Glen’s wife, Kim, explained the decision to go public with the Alzheimer’s diagnosis ahead of his final tour:
“Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer, but if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?'” |
Glen’s tour of the UK and Ireland begins on October 21 at The Lowry in Salford Quays and finishes on November 13 at the Royal Theatre and Event Centre in Castlebar, County Mayo. Click here for ticket information.
