George Harrison and the Bee Gees to receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award
Written by admin on December 18, 2014 – 7:24 pm -George Harrison and the Bee Gees will receive the Recording Academy’s ® Lifetime Achievement award at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards in February.
The same honour will go to blues guitarist Buddy Guy, French composer Pierre Boulez, Tex-Mex accordionist Flaco Jiménez, country music duo the Louvin Brothers, and saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter.
The Trustees Award will go to producer Richard Perry, songwriters Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, and Newport Jazz Festival founder George Wein.
Kurzweil Music Systems founder, Ray Kurzweil, will receive the Technical GRAMMY® Award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honours performers who have made contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording, while the Trustees Award recognises outstanding contributions in areas other than performance. The awards are determined by vote of The Recording Academy’s National Board of Trustees.
The Technical GRAMMY Award is presented to individuals and companies who have made contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field. This is determined by vote of The Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing® Advisory Council and Chapter Committees, as well as The Academy’s Trustees.
These Special Merit Awards will be presented at an invitation-only ceremony held during GRAMMY Week on Saturday, February 7, 2015. There will also be a formal acknowledgment made during the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards® telecast the following evening.
