Gatsby director linked to Elvis biopic
Written by admin on May 1, 2014 – 7:56 am -Director Baz Luhrmann is in negotiations to direct an Elvis biopic for Warner Bros, according to TheWrap.com. Luhrmann’s past directorial credits include “The Great Gatsby,” “Australia,” “Moulin Rouge!,” and “Romeo + Juliet”.
Kelly Marcel is reportedly on board to write the screenplay, which will not be based on pre-existing material. Marcel wrote the recent hit “Saving Mr. Banks,” and the forthcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
Warner Bros. has not commented on the rumour.
Also in development is an Elvis biopic based on Peter Guralnick’s “Last Train to Memphis” biography. Mick Jagger and his production company Jagged Films are working with 20th Century Fox to produce the movie, which has “Last King of Scotland” director Kevin MacDonald at the helm.
