“Frankie Said (The Very Best Of Frankie Goes To Hollywood)”
Written by admin on November 20, 2012 – 12:37 pm -For a couple of years in the 1980s, Frankie Goes To Hollywood were one of the most provocative and successful acts in UK pop. They reached number one with their first three singles (“Relax,” “The Power of Love,” and “Two Tribes”), and sparked the kind of public reaction that most bands could only dream of. The ‘FRANKIE SAYS’ tshirt remains one of the iconic fashion items of the decade.
“Frankie Said (The Very Best Of Frankie Goes To Hollywood),” released on Salvo/ZTT earlier this month, reminds us what the fuss was about, with a strong selection of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s biggest hits, classic album tracks, and 12-inch mixes.
The following tracks are included on the album:
- Two Tribes (introduced via the piano of Anne Dudley)
- The Power of Love
- Relax (the last seven inches)
- Two Tribes (we don’t want to die)
- War!
- Welcome to the Pleasuredome (a remade world)
- Ferry Cross The Mersey (and here I’ll stay)
- Rage Hard
- Watching the Wildlife
- Born to Run (live on The Tube)
- Warriors of the Wasteland (attack) seven inch
- Kill the Pain
- Maximum Joy
- Two Tribes (annihilation) twelve inch
- Relax (New York) twelve inch
- The Power of Love (…best listened to by lovers).
All selections are remastered from the original master tapes. The album is packaged in a gold and monochrome slipcase and features an informative 12-page booklet.
