Frank Wilson, Motown producer, dies aged 71
Written by admin on September 28, 2012 – 10:00 pm -Motown producer, Frank Wilson, died on Thursday aged 71 after a long battle with cancer. Wilson wrote and produced classic hits for Motown greats such as Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, and the Supremes. He also recorded the song “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” which became one of the world’s rarest and most sought after soul records.

Frank Wilson was born on December 5, 1940 in Houston, and moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. He began working for Motown at their Los Angeles studio in 1965, before relocating to the Hitsville USA building in Detroit. In this period he co-wrote and produced songs such as “All I Need” by the Temptations, “Love Child,” “Up the Ladder to the Roof” and “Stoned Love” by the Supremes, “Whole Lot of Shakin’ in My Heart” by Smokey Robinson, “Still Water (Love)” by the Four Tops, “Chained” by Marvin Gaye, and “Keep on Truckin'” by Eddie Kendricks.
After leaving Motown in 1976, Wilson became a born again Christian and was ordained as a minister. He went on to author books, produce gospel music, and found the New Dawn Christian Village in Los Angeles.
