“Exile on Main Street” hits number one
Written by admin on May 23, 2010 – 7:04 pm -The Rolling Stones have achieved their first number one album in the UK since 1994 with the reissue of “Exile on Main Street.” The band’s last number one album was Voodoo Lounge, but they did hit number two with “A Bigger Bang” in 2005 and “Shine a Light” in 2008.
The “Exile on Main Street” reissue includes 10 unreleased tracks recorded during the “Exile” era, including “Plundered My Soul,” “Dancing in the Light,” “Following the River” and “Pass The Wine”, as well as alternate versions of “Soul Survivor” and “Loving Cup.”
“Exile on Main Street” also hit number one when originally released in 1972. |
The hype around the “Exile on Main Street” reissue has been huge, so it’s no surprise that it hit the top spot. That said, it’s a brilliant release and richly deserves the position.
The Stones on tv
Fans in England and Scotland will want to tune into BBC1 tonight at 10.25 for the documentary “The Stones in Exile.” The documentary tells the story of how “Exile on Main Street” was produced during the Stones’ stay in the French Riviera.
