Elvis Presley Enterprises is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Elvis’ first recording with the new “60 Years of Elvis” exhibit at Graceland. The exhibit forms part of Graceland’s VIP tour experience.

Elvis recorded his breakthrough song “That’s All Right” on July 5, 1954 with guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black. Three days later, Memphis DJ Dewey Phillips played the song on his “Red, Hot & Blue” show on WHBQ radio and the switchboard lit up.

“60 Years of Elvis” is a career-spanning exhibit, celebrating some of Elvis’ biggest successes. Rare artifacts on display include:

  • Elvis’ personal copy of the “That’s All Right” 45 rpm record
  • a pay stub from his days as a driver for Crown Electric
  • a telegram sent home to his parents during an early tour
  • his 1955 RCA Records contract
  • the GRAMMY® Award that Elvis received for “How Great Thou Art”
  • Elvis’ “Viva Las Vegas” wardrobe
  • the award presented to mark Elvis’ induction into the inaugural class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

The “60 Years of Elvis” exhibit will be open from now until February of 2015.
