Elvis birthday event at L.A. Grammy Museum
Written by admin on January 3, 2011 – 9:52 pm -Elvis would have reached his 76th birthday on January 8 and to mark the occasion the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles is hosting a special event the night before titled “Celebrating Elvis – The Making of a Comeback: A Discussion with Steve Binder.”
Steve Binder was the producer of Elvis’ highly regarded 1968 television show, then simply titled “Elvis”, but now often referred to as the ’68 Comeback Special. It was this television event that helped catapult Elvis back to the top of the music industry, after several years making Hollywood movies. |
For this special event, Steve Binder will discuss what it was like working with Elvis and how the show came together, aided by clips from the show. There will also be a Q&A segment and he will be signing copies of his book “Elvis: 68 at 40 – Retrospective.”
Binder will also discuss his work on the “T.A.M.I Show” and “Diana Ross in Central Park.”
“Celebrating Elvis – The Making of a Comeback: A Discussion with Steve Binder” takes place at the Grammy Museum at 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles on Friday, January 7 and runs from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Those wishing to attend this free event should email programs@grammymuseum.org
The Elvis ’68 Special is available in a single disc or 3-disc deluxe edition which includes hours of outtakes.
