Elton John to host Radio 2 show
Written by admin on August 8, 2012 – 5:47 pm -Elton John will host a two-hour BBC Radio 2 show on August 27 as part of a season of programmes about his career.
The Elton John Show will feature a playlist of Elton’s favourite artists, including music he grew up with and up-to-date acts that he is inspired by.
Trevor Nelson begins the Elton John tribute season on August 22 with a special on Elton’s soulful side. The tribute will continue on August 23 with Jo Whiley presenting an In Concert special featuring Elton’s “Red Piano Show” performed at London’s O2 Arena in 2007.
Johnnie Walker’s Elton@thebeeb show on August 24 will feature a compilation of performances that Elton has given for the BBC over the years.
Radio 2’s Mark Hagen says:

Last month saw Elton John return to the top of the UK album chart for the first time in more than 20 years. He took the top spot with “Good Morning To The Night,” a collaboration with Australian duo Pnau.
Also released in July was the “Elton John – Classic Album Selection (1970-73)” box set, which presents five of the music legend’s classic early albums, namely:
- Elton John
- Tumbleweed Connection
- Madman Across The Water
- Honky Château
- Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player.
